The Kyoto Children’s Nohgaku Music School aims to have children learn the world-class traditional Japanese performing art of Nohgaku by practicing and performing it on stage, so that they can understand the high artistic quality of Nohgaku, which is both a classic and a modern form of music. The goal is to convey the importance of greetings through the experience of Nohgaku, which begins and ends with “rei” .
In the 2024 Kyoto Children’s Nohgaku Music Class, students will learn the kotsuzumi (small drum) and the ootsuzumi (large drum). The piece to be taught is “Ha no mai”.
